Spider Vein Basics
Vascular Lesions are skin blemishes caused by abnormal blood vessels located directly under your skin's surface. The color of your skin will often appear red as a result of these blemishes, depending on how many lesions you have in an area. Spider veins are a common form of vascular lesion. These skin blemishes can be removed with lasers - without damaging the skin.
The Procedure
To treat facial veins, Dr. Lacombe uses the VersaPulse® laser. During treatment, pulses of laser energy targeted at the spider vein destroy the vessels, allowing them to be absorbed by your body. When you meet with Dr. Lacombe to discuss laser vein treatment at his office near Marin County, he will explain that the most discomfort you will feel is a slight stinging sensation with each pulse of the laser. He makes every effort to ensure that the procedure is as comfortable as possible.
The number of treatments required depends on the size, location, depth and color of your lesion. Spider veins on the face and age spots generally do well with one to three treatments. Treatments should be scheduled four to six weeks apart to achieve maximum results as your body naturally shrinks the lining of the blood vessel.
